The End of Faith

I am reading and enjoying Sam Harris’ “The End of Faith”. I suppose that his intended audience is fence-sitters who want to get along in this culture of mostly believers, while enjoying the skeptical perspective. He recommends overt resistance to Faith.

He puts Hitler’s actions in a religious context as a mere extension of middle European traditions.

I think that communism’s excesses were due to a naïve application of logic which oversimplified the world and in particular the nature of people. We must (over)simplify to survive and this will lead to errors. Hayek’s warning is to move cautiously with new ideas concerning how people manage people. The communists were sure that they were right.
