Sometime about 1975 I recall seeing a note in some computer journal
describing a way to do asynchronous I/O in a PL/I program.
It was presented as if it had been discovered in the laboratory.
In fact it merely described in friendly form what was well documented
in IBM’s PL/I language manual.
I had found the manual clear.
I suppose many found the manual difficult to read.
